Jane's Distant Stitch Blog.: October 2011

I have recently embarked on the Distant Stitch City and Guilds Embroidery Course with Sian Martin. I hope to use the blog to record my progress and obtain feedback from my work. I live in Lancaster with my husband Roger, son Russell. (2 other children grown up and left) I work as a District Nurse in Kendal part time. I have always loved art and being creative. I paint, mainly on acrylic with mixed media/collage. I love to visit exhibitions and try to attend any Workshops locally.

Working sheet for chapter 6

My first working sheet! I suppose it is the same idea as a sketchbook. However I am not used to anyone else seeing my sketchbooks!

I have scanned and printed images from my design sheets. Some I have printed onto acetate then layered them up and re scanned them - printed them again.

Images from my design sheets - designs printed onto old map then overlaid with a scanned image of black cutout designs on acetate. Produces quite complex and interesting images.

Experienting with the layered images. Printed off on paper then used to make another cutout!
